White Water Rafting at Kolad

Kolad is a spectacular location to experience the pleasure of white water river rafting. Kundalika River which starts in Tamhini Ghat and runs through kolad village is recognised as perfect place for white water rafting for amateurs. this activity is conducted between two dams over a stretch of approx 12Km. We start on the lower side of Bhira Dam and the water runs in to Dolwahal dam. Since it is situated between two dams the safety is higher since there are no unknown changes in the levels of water and because of this Kundalika river and Kolad region is recognised as water sports hub.
Kundalika river’s approx. 12 Km stretch will give you all the excitement you need to relax your mind from regular tensions and work related stress. During this 2.5 hours stretch you will encounter rapids up to grade 3 and if the rain is high few days before then you can expect the rapid up to grade 4.
This activity, apart from fun brings out group coordination skills, power in your arms as well as courage.

Some people think that you require Royal Enfield or very high engine capacity motorbikes to participate which is not the truth. Any vehicle of Engine capacity 125cc and above are eligible to participate in this expedition. Right from Discover, Victor, Unicorn, Hunk to Karizma, CBZ, Apache, Royal Enfield can enjoy the ride over these mountains. Of course it is very essential to practice long rides before participating in this event.

Himachal Pradesh – “A Destination for All Seasons and All Reasons”
Till 19th century, Tourism in Himachal Pradesh was restricted only to a limited movement of pilgrims to a few spiritual destinations in around the hills. Only when the British established their chain of hill stations did tourism receive recognition in the State. Tourism activity received a shot in the arm when British declared Shimla “The Summer Capital of India” in 1864. Post independence, more investment in the infrastructure sector led to opening up of Tourism in the State. However the biggest boost to tourism occurred in the mid 80s and 90s.
Now Himachal is known as “A Destination for All Seasons and All Reasons”. In fact, the Department has laid a special emphasis on the development of activity-based tourism and opening up of new sub destinations. To promote tourism in the countryside and to unexplored areas, appropriate infrastructure is being developed within available resources. Snow Leopard - Ladakh

The climate of the area is sub-arctic to arctic with less rainfall during summers and heavy snowfall during winters and temperature dropping to much below freezing point. Summers are short and mild. There are many rare and endangered animal species found in this cold desert, amongst these are the elusive Snow Leopard, Ibex, Tibetan Antelope, Blue Sheep, Shapo, Marmot, Tibetan Hare etc. Among the avi fauna population found are the Snow Patridge, Golden Oriole, Snow Cock, Golden Eagle, Horned Lark, Red Billed Chuff etc.
